THE MAN WHO DIDN’T WANT TO DIE

Though feared the dark
Felt safe at night
Was sad while
Others laughed

He was terrified of grave
With his every breath
In every imperfection
Saw the crude craft of
Death
Though he felt
He’d lived and died before

Did his best
Not to pass away
Without a trace
He looked for his shape
In the ancient statues or
Nietzsche’s man

Surrounded himself
With noble scents
But deep inside his soul
Was petrified by the moth
Of rotting bones

Worshipped heroes of the past
Though he knew
His Mother-Earth
Was just a particle
In the sea
Of fertile stars

Believed in force
But followed the Galilean’s footsteps
Without remorse

Didn’t find comfort
In the wise men’s scripts
And like a captain
Buried his ship
In the shallows off
The lazy shore
Rather than crash it
Against the cliffs of
Animal temptations and wrath

Finally found the long-sought peace
In a simple life
And the gardener’s serenity of
LOVE
